Shiva through Friday afternoon, April 2, 2004
(though people are welcome to visit through Sunday, April 4)

Funeral: Sunday, March 28, 2004

If anyone has not yet heard the horrible news, our 8 week old baby daughter died suddenly Wednesday night (March 24, 2004). We are "sitting shiva" (Jewish mourning custom) through April 2, though people are welcome to visit through Sunday, April 4.. Please do not feel obligated to pay a call especially if it is a long trip, however condolence calls are welcome and can be made at our home in the afternoons and evenings. E-mail me, Manny, for our phone number and directions to our home.

If anyone wishes more information about the custom of shiva, the following web page has some basic information on traditional "shiva" practices: http://www.myjewishlearning.com/lifecycle/Death/Burial_Mourning/Shiva.htm. Although we will not be observing all of the points described in the article, we have included this website as background and for informational purposes about this custom for those unfamiliar with it.

Rabbi Noach Valley to conduct funeral service
Sunday March 28, 2004,1:30 PM
(funeral date)

The funeral will be a simple grave-side ceremony with our dear friend, Rabbi Noach Valley officiating. We do not wish anyone to feel obligated to attend the funeral, but of course, all are welcome. Since it is a grave-side funeral, formal dress is not required or expected.

The funeral will be held on Sunday March 28, 2004, at 1:30 PM; however, attendees are requested to assemble at 1:15 PM at the cemetery office before proceeding to the grave site.

The cemetery is Cedar Park/Beth-El, on Forest Avenue in Paramus, NJ. Telephone 201-261-7878.

Directions to cemetery

Directions to cemetery: from the South: Garden State Parkway exit 165 Ridgedale/Oradell. First right on Oradell Ave. At the second traffic light, turn left on Forest Ave. Go 1 mile, past another traffic light, to the cemetery gates on the left.

From the east or north, and from New York: Take route 4 West to Forest Avenue. Go north (right) on Forest Avenue about 3 miles, to the cemetery gates on the left.

Finally

As noted, we will assemble at the cemetery office, but if you are running late, we hope the office will be able to provide directions to the burial site, which will be in the Cedar Park portion of the cemetery, in a section reserved for babies.

- Manny and Naomi
