Prayers for Animals

People who love animals know how transformative this love is. Here prayers that speak to our various relationships with animals: prayers of adoration and celebration; prayers concerning our relationships with our animal friends who live with us; prayers of mourning at the loss of animal friends; prayers of petition and intercession for animals who are suffering. The prayers encompass experiences from dreams and memories, to new relationships and special moments. The prayers address emotions from worries, anger, and sorrow to joy, awe, and thankfulness.   From prayers for animals in shelters, on sanctuaries, for farmed animals, for the hunted and the endangered, to prayers for the well-being of animal caretakers, and for children who mourn, this unique book provides a voice for those who are moved by the variety of ways that a diverse number of animals touch our lives. These prayers invite you to deepen your relationship with God and with all God’s creatures.

Early comments from a reader:

"The first time I read Prayers for Animals I could not get through a page with out a strong emotional repsonse. It is absolutley undeniable that these pages are filled with truth. As a father to be I look forward to sharing these prayers with my child and the three rescued animal companions that complete my family. I will use one page a day as a daily affirmation except I will add an additional prayer thanking God for this book!"
ps, i teach a non-religious, spiritual sunday school to 40 students. i can't wait to incorporate these prayers. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!

A review from All-creatures.org:

We purchased this excellent, helpful, comforting paperback book at this year’s NAVS Summerfest, and were happy that we could attend a class presented by the author Carol J. Adams and hear her read some of her prayers and give the background of how this collection came about.

Carol Adams' Prayers for Animals has a way of reaching into our hearts and souls and putting into words those inner emotional feelings that we often find hard to express in our times of need.

On the last day, Sunday, of the North American Vegetarian Society conference on the beautiful University of Pittsburgh campus in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, we held our third annual inter-religious, nondenominational memorial service for the animals in the lovely chapel in the woods. The well-attended service was held at 6:30 in the morning, and since Carol Adams had to leave the day before, Mary read one of her published prayers which fit right into the setting. It began, “Dear God, This morning Your whole of Creation greeted me…” and a few lines further down continued with, “Everywhere I looked I saw Your Creation.”

Rarely do we come across a book that strikes a chord deep down in our souls, as this precious volume does. It is hard to put into words how much Carol Adams’ personal, heartfelt reaching out to our Creator comforts.

We highly recommend this outstanding, much-needed contribution of Carol J. Adams.
